Somay Bandung

My first time posting a recipe,after gather all my confidence since I wasn't really born to cook person, But what Im telling you that Cooking is easy, fun and everyone can do it^^, to me cooking is a game of tossing(tossing watever u have in your fridge haha) So for my 1st recipe I choose Siomay Bandung,to many Indonesian, Somay Bandung is one of top of the list snacks, it originally adpoted from Chinese Siew May(dumpling) then modified it to Indonesian taste with its creamy peanut sauce yumm

Enuf Talking, Let's get started^^..

SOMAY BANDUNG


" I got the original recipe from the net then i modified it to smaller portion"

Makes: 20 pcs

Ingredients:
200 gr king mackarel,minced
200 gr prawn, minced
150 gr tapiocca starch
1 stalk spring onion, finely chopped
100ml water
1 egg white

Seasoning:(crushed them in a mortar)
3pcs garlic,
1/2 tbs chicken salt
1/2 tbs salt(or to taste)
1/2 tbs white pepper

Side Dishes:
3 pcs green cabbage, remove the middle bone then soak with hot water, to make it more flexible when you roll it.
1pc medium size bittergourd, cut about 5cm(2") lenght, take out all the seeds
2pcs boiled potato

Methods:

1.Mix all the Siomay ingredients and seasoning in a bowl, Knead lighty untill it mixed through, add the chopped spring onion.

2.Make meatball shape using spoon (about medium tomato size).

3.Fill bittergourd with the mixture

4.Spread 1 pc of green cabbage, put 1tbs of the mixture, then roll the cabbage

5.Put all the siomays, bittergourd in the steamer, steam with high heat for about 20-25 min.
Serve it with peanut sauce, Indonesia sweet soyabean sauce(kecap manis) and chilli sauce. sprinkle with lemon/lime

Peanut sauce:
1. You can buy ready Indonesian peanut sauce in asian supermarket.then mix it with water or
2.If you cant find ready peanut sauce you can use peanut butter, add water and garlic powder.

Peanut sauce:
1.Buy a ready made Indonesian peanut sauce then mix it with water or
2.You can use peanut butter, add dash of garlic powder then mix it with the water**
